I must apologize for all of the time that has passed since we have visited this topic. It has been quite some time since I have had the pleasure of sharing my blogs with you. In recent weeks, we have watched the meteorologists track down and prepared for a huge storm, as well as endured the aftermath of it. I thank God that I have not been moved by the storm. I pray for those who are still affected by Irma as well as Harvey. May God bless and keep them as they rebuild and recover from the massive damages.
The Nashville Statement is something that I am so very excited about. While many feel that it brings about segregation and discrimination, I believe it draws a necessary line in the morality of the church. It not only highlights the stance of the church when it comes to homosexuality, but also the very important subject of fornication within the church. While many tend to agree on the fact that homosexuality is morally wrong, the subject of sexual immorality in the heterosexual life is often overlooked. I love the fact that these articles call out to all sexually immoral individuals and causes them to make a choice.
Tonight, we are going to move on to articles 5-8. Please take time to explore what each article means to you and while you are doing so, pray for those who are entangled in those types of acts. We are indeed our brother’s keepers and each person in the body of Christ has to take the time to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have fallen short of the glory of God.
WE AFFIRM that the differences between male and female reproductive structures are integral to God’s design for self-conception as male or female.WE DENY that physical anomalies or psychological conditions nullify the God-appointed link between biological sex and self-conception as male or female.
This is a statement that addresses the belief that some people have about transgenderism. It is quite simply stating that the sex that an individual is born with is no mistake. We as Christians do understand that God makes no mistake. If our reproductive structures deem us as male or female, that is exactly what He has designed for us to be.
WE AFFIRM that those born with a physical disorder of sex development are created in the image of God and have dignity and worth equal to all other image-bearers. They are acknowledged by our Lord Jesus in his words about “eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb.” With all others they are welcome as faithful followers of Jesus Christ and should embrace their biological sex insofar as it may be known. WE DENY that ambiguities related to a person’s biological sex render one incapable of living a
fruitful life in joyful obedience to Christ.
This is a beautiful statement for those who are born with unusual sexual reproductive organs. I cannot imagine what it would feel like to be born with such deformity, and there are those who feel isolated from the normalcy of sexual identity because of the pain associated with such incidents of human nature. This article welcomes them to the faith with open arms and reminds them of the biblical verse that acknowledges that God has ordained them in the body of Christ as well.
WE AFFIRM that self-conception as male or female should be defined by God’s holy purposes in creation and redemption as revealed in Scripture. WE DENY that adopting a homosexual or transgender self-conception is consistent with God’s holy purposes in creation and redemption
This is a very big one for me. When I was in highschool, many of my childhood friends begin to explore their sexuality. In truth, many of them explored homosexuality. The common thought was that they were choosing to be homosexual. They knew that they desired the same sex and they were comfortable with that truth. However, in most recent years, the mentality has changed from choosing to live that lifestyle to truly believing that they are born that way. I personally believe that this concept traps the homosexual in the mindset that he/she couldn’t change if they wanted to, therefore forcing them to view practicing homosexuality as something that they can never change. God is able to redeem those who want to live a life of holiness unto Him.
WE AFFIRM that people who experience sexual attraction for the same sex may live a rich and fruitful life pleasing to God through faith in Jesus Christ, as they, like all Christians, walk in purity of life. WE DENY that sexual attraction for the same sex is part of the natural goodness of God’s original creation, or that it puts a person outside the hope of the gospel.
This one brings everything home. There is no denying that some people indeed will be sexually inclined towards the same sex. It doesn’t mean that they are monsters. It doesn’t mean that they should be ostracized or that they are less than those who are not attracted to the same sex. It does mean that they like any of the rest of us have hope in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
I encourage each of you to take the time to look up the Nashville Statement and explore what it means to you. If you are struggling with any sexual immorality, I urge you to call on the name of the Lord. He is able to save all of us from a life of sin that separates us from Him. God bless you all.
